Fiona Sunter & Associates – Meet the Team
Meet the Team
We have a great team of people working in the practice, and it is our job to make sure you are treated well and enjoy coming to see us.
There are 2 HCPC registered Podiatrists in the practice – myself and Nicola, and we are brilliantly supported by Kim, who is our Office Administrator.
Here you will learn a bit more about us. What makes us tick and what our ideal Sunday looks like.
Meet The Podiatrists
A Bit About Fiona
I love my job and get tremendous job satisfaction from each day. I wake every morning looking forward to what the day will bring. Where else can you get a job sitting on your bottom chatting to a huge variety of people and providing them pain relief? It’s incredibly rewarding seeing someone limp into the surgery but walk out 30 minutes later with a spring in their step saying that they feel as though they are “walking on air”.
I bought the practice in September 2005 and have grown it from 2 days per week to 5 days a week. So you can see how much I love the business. I work 3 days a week, and the other 4 days I spend renovating my home, which has taken longer than we had anticipated and looking after my elderly in-laws, when I do get some free time I undertake Voluntary Podiatry work. Chiropody or Podiatry, as it is now known, has always been a passion of mine. In fact, at the age of 13, I made the grand announcement that ‘when I grow up, I want to be a Chiropodist’. Well it took me a long time to get to this point as I followed plan B for quite a while.
I worked 15 ½ years for what was the Halifax Building Society in a variety of roles but in 1998 I was offered Voluntary Redundancy, which I gladly took. This let me revert to plan A and my passion to be a Podiatrist. I went back to college to do ‘A’ level Human Biology and I started my degree course at the University of Huddersfield in 2001. My first day at University was my youngest son’s first day at school – I am not sure who was more scared – him or me! I graduated in June 2004 with a BSc (Hons) Podiatry and an enormous grin on my face – I had done it!!
The rest as they say is history.
I am married to Hamish and we have 3 grown up sons; who are now, thankfully all happy and settled in their own lives. They have been replaced in the nest by a menagerie of cats, dogs and fish!
My ideal Sunday would be waking up in our caravan, taking the dogs for a long walk and then having a leisurely BBQ with family and friends around us.
I’m Nicola Rothera, a Podiatrist and I have worked with Fiona since 2010 after I graduated from the University of Huddersfield. I originally started on one day a week, but I now work full time in the practice, splitting my time between clinic consultations and home visits.
I absolutely love my job and like Fiona, this is my passion. Podiatry is something that I have always wanted to do. I have always been fascinated by feet and amazed by the fact they say, that by the age of 70, you have walked the equivalent of 4 times around the world….no wonder we can sometimes have problems!
I am married to Dean and we have 2 young girls who are in school. My ‘spare time’, if you can call it that, is spent taking them to and from school and to various play centres near to home for ‘play dates’. In actual fact, this is also a good time for me to gather my thoughts and catch up with girlfriends.

I’m Kim, the Office Administrator and I’ve been with the practice since March 2018, and I deal with the day to day activities involved in a busy Podiatry practice. I am very organised by nature and this skill has served me well within the practice.
My career has taken many forms over the years and prior to joining the practice I considered myself foot phobic….. thankfully that has all changed! The world of podiatry is fascinating to me, it is so much more than cutting nails, and I learn new things every day.
The clinic is a happy, collaborative environment and coming to work is never a chore, our patients can be assured of a warm welcome.
When I’m not at work I am mum to a vibrant 7 year old boy, we spend our free time together hunting Pokémon, reading and travelling and enjoying family time.
If you think we might be the right people to help you with your foot problems then please do give us a call.
Now at least you know who you’ll be talking to 😉
